Having a skin disorder such as Vitiligo, a loss of pigmentation in the skin causing a visible, lighter patch of skin that spreads over the entire body, would be a nightmare for anyone, especially a teenager. Feeling isolated because you look different to everyone else, constantly feeling alone and depressed and always hiding away from the view of society so they wouldn't stare at you and whisper behind your back, a nightmare no one would like to come true.

Unfortunately for Matt Katoa that nightmare did come true. He was very self conscious about the way he looked and always kept to himself, Matt was very careful not to attract attention, so no one would notice him and see his skin disorder.

You could see in Matt's eyes he wasn't a very happy person, always hiding himself away from the world. Matt was never comfortable around people, he was very shy and quiet. Because of his skin condition he could never be himself and live life because having Vitiligo and people staring at him everywhere he went forced him to become shy and distant from the rest of the world making him feel like an outsider.

It wasn't until Matt visited Microskin™ in Brisbane and experienced the simulated second skin that for the first time the true Matt Katoa was seen and heard. Matt is now easily the loudest person in the room, always laughing and joking. Anytime he enters a room he makes sure that he is heard, it's very rare now that you don't notice Matt. Matt is one of those people that light up the room making everyone laugh and have a good time, the centre of attention you could say.

The transformation from before Matt experienced Microskin™ to him now, you wouldn't believe that he was once that shy guy sitting in the corner by himself. Most of Microskin's™ patients are beautiful, fun outgoing people usually trapped in their own mind because unfortunately people can't look past their skin disorder and see the real person inside. Microskin can't fix the way people think or view things.
