Everyone deals with emotions differently and Luke's emotions was brought out with anger. Luke felt as though something had been unfairly taken away from him. He hated everything and everyone around him and wished that he had never made it through the accident because he felt that would have been a lot better than going through life with such disfigurement. Luke was very alone and angry and was rarely caught smiling as happiness was a feeling he hadn't felt in a long time.

Going outside Luke would always cover up his scars, constantly hiding away, hoping people wouldn't notice his disfigurement, living in discomfort, feeling like an outsider, and feeling things would never get any better for him.
